Frequently Asked Questions About the Ready Grow Garden
Welcome to our FAQ section, where we address the most common questions about the Ready Grow Garden system. As the culmination of a decade of research and four generations of development, our emergency food production solution is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of gardening experience or available space.
The Ready Grow Garden system empowers you with true food independence when traditional supply chains fail. Through our innovative grow bags, proprietary G3 Grow Formula, automated watering system, and comprehensive seedling starter kit, we’ve created a solution that addresses the fundamental flaws in traditional emergency food supplies.
Below, you’ll find answers to questions about setup, maintenance, storage, shipping, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or have never grown a plant before, our goal is to provide you with all the information you need to successfully implement and benefit from the Ready Grow Garden system.

Yes you can! With some minor things to keep in mind. Our kit is designed to handle up to 1 cubic yard of dirt. If you choose to place this on a balcony, deck or any other structure that could be affected by its weight we recommend you have it inspected for load capacity. The reason for this is a cubic yard of soil weighs about 2,100 Lbs and when wet can be up to 3,000 Lbs. For this reason, we do not recommend placing the full garden on any structure you have not had inspected for load capacity.
While we can’t account for everything, we’ve done our best to break down and simplify the process of gardening so even those with the worst luck and history maintaining plants can have the confidence that they can start growing fresh and nutritious produce. We suggest that beginners read through our entire Easy Grow Garden Guide book to give them confidence to know how to garden and overcome any past challenges. Remember to water your plants!
Due to the weight of shipping the G3 Grow Formula and the complexities with international shipping, we are only able to ship it the continental United States at the moment.
Due to regulatory restrictions we may not be able to ship the seed kit to you. California is especially restrictive and we do not yet have a way to meet their regulations as a startup.
The grow bags are sturdy and reusable, and the watering kit should continue to work with yearly replacement of the batteries. The components of the G3 Grow Formula are used up after each season and will require replenishment to continue providing the 70 micro and 3 macro nutrients for the next season. After the Kickstarter is fulfilled we intend on making the G3 Grow Formula purchasable by itself to enable you to have some available for each season and to build up a stock pile if wanted.
It depends on which of our grow bags you use for your plants, but if you were to do 1 cubic foot or 200 gallons of soil, it’ll use roughly 144 square feet of space, or a 6’ X 24’ space as an example.
About a full afternoon is needed to mix the 200 gallons of soil with the G3 Grow Formula, put the soil in the bags and plant your seedlings. Smaller gardens will of course go faster.
We spend 1-2 hours between monitoring, maintenance and harvesting weekly.
We recommend you use untreated soil when using the G3 Grow Formula. The G3 Grow Formula is carefully balanced to provide all the fertilization a plant will need for a season when you mix it as directed. Using any other fertilized soil could result in over fertilization and damage your plants roots. Heavy Clay soils also can present a challenge with drainage. We recommend using a good organic compost to help breakup clay rich soils. If you can find a good top soil or top soil mix that is recommended. We are using both top soil and just dirt from our back yards (sandy lomb) with great success.
We only use non-hybrid non-GMO seeds. While not certified by our supplier to save costs our future versions of the seed kit will be certified.
Everything in the kits except the seeds are shelf stable and will last decades. The seeds are expected to last 2-3 years before the germination rate will drop off, but unfortunately will need to be replaced after that time.
The automatic watering timer takes two AA batteries. We don’t include the batteries to keep shipping simple and because batteries can leak or explode over time and aren’t as shelf stable as the rest of our products.
It all depends… there are many factors that come into play when gardening. Heat, water, cold, latitude, shade and bugs can all effect your garden. We are producing over 200 lbs of produce in our gardens per growing season. Zucchini, Potato’s and tomatoes are prolific and much more affordable than the grocery store.
Plants need warmth and light and the Sun is the best source of that. The more light the more photosynthesis. There are ways of growing plants indoors with grow lights, and with the refinement of LED lighting it has become very cost effective to grow indoors. We recommend starting your seedlings inside so you can nurture them until ready for transplant outdoors. So, with the right setup, you can grow plants indoors, but most people will find the Sun is a more convenient and affordable option.
